Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the DOYA app and website. By using DOYA you agree to them — please read carefully.

1. Acceptance

DOYA — EOL Directory ("DOYA", "we") offers a directory of end-of-life professionals, editorial resources, and a small shop of memorial goods. By installing the App, creating an account, or browsing the website, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use DOYA.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create a DOYA account.

3. Your account

  • You're responsible for keeping your password confidential.
  • You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
  • Notify us immediately at support@doya.directory if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use DOYA to harass, threaten, defame, or harm anyone, including grieving users.
  • Post content that is illegal, deceptive, hateful, or sexually explicit.
  • Impersonate another person or a business you don't represent.
  • Scrape, copy, or republish substantial portions of the directory, articles, or shop listings without written permission.
  • Probe, scan, or interfere with the App's security or infrastructure.
  • Use DOYA for unlawful purposes or in violation of any applicable law.

5. Listings, reviews, and editorial content

DOYA's directory listings, articles, and reviews are informational. We make a good-faith effort to verify professionals before listing them, but we don't certify, license, or endorse any business or individual. Always verify credentials, licensing, and fit before engaging any professional. Your relationship with any funeral home, hospice provider, counselor, doula, or estate planner is between you and them.

Articles and resources are for general information only. They are not medical, legal, psychological, or financial advice. Consult a licensed professional for advice on your specific situation.

6. User content

You retain ownership of content you post (reviews, comments, photos). By posting, you grant DOYA a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and moderate that content as needed to run the service. You can withdraw this license by deleting your content or your account, except where the content has been used in good-faith compliance (for example, an article republishing a quote with attribution).

You represent that you have the right to post the content and that it doesn't violate anyone's rights. We may remove content that violates these Terms without notice.

7. The Shop and payments

  • Products in the Shop are sold by DOYA. Prices, availability, and shipping windows are shown at checkout.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe, subject to its terms.
  • Returns: We accept returns of unused, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund (less return shipping). Personalized or custom items are non-refundable unless defective.
  • Damaged or incorrect orders: Email support@doya.directory within 7 days of delivery and we'll make it right.
  • We may cancel an order at any time before shipment (for example, if we detect fraud or a pricing error). You'll receive a full refund in that case.

8. Subscriptions

Some plans (for example, listings for professionals) are sold as recurring subscriptions. You authorize Stripe to charge your payment method at the cadence shown at checkout (monthly or annual) until you cancel. Cancel any time from your account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period and is not prorated.

9. Intellectual property

DOYA, the DOYA logo, the design of the App and website, and the editorial content we produce are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the App or its content except as permitted by law.

10. Termination

You may close your account at any time — instructions here. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where reasonable.

11. Disclaimers

DOYA IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We don't warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any listing is accurate or current.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DOYA WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF DOYA WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID DOYA IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) US $100.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold DOYA harmless from any claim arising out of your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party right.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes that can't be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Fulton County, Georgia, and both parties consent to that venue. Nothing in this section restricts your rights as a consumer under applicable law.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll notify you in the App or by email before it takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
